About NCM Hippocampus

NCM (Neuromorphic Cognitive Memory) is an intelligent memory technology for language models, capable of retaining years' worth of conversations with your favorite LLMs. It doesn't replace the context window or RAG — instead, it works in perfect harmony with both, powering an AI that never forgets.

Memory Inspired by the Human Brain

NCM is anything but a database. Its unique temporal resilience draws inspiration from the human hippocampus. It features both short-term (STM) and long-term (LTM) memory layers, with the transition between them occurring during consolidation — the digital equivalent of biological sleep. Don't worry though, it's more of a power nap: roughly 20 s, once every ~50 iterations.

Old and irrelevant memories gradually fade, while strong and meaningful ones deepen over time. Recall is semantic — the memory can surface a relevant recollection through free association, much like when a new situation gives you the feeling you've been through something similar before.

NCM can also hold contradictory pieces of information simultaneously, and thanks to its chronological hierarchy, it delivers them in the right context. The user first said their name was Josef — then later said it was Jiřina. NCM knows which one counts.

Memory isn't tied to a single LLM. With one click, you can switch from Gemini to Claude or ChatGPT and pick up right where you left off — no context lost. Your data never touches the cloud; it's stored securely on your own device and remains entirely under your control.

The computational footprint is so small that NCM can run on a mobile phone (coming soon), single-board computers, or ARM64 devices such as the Raspberry Pi.
